Job summary

IDEA Services, on behalf of IHC, is seeking a casual Support Worker across North Canterbury. The role involves helping adults with intellectual disabilities live independently, with shifts offered as needed across Christchurch/Canterbury.

Hourly pay ranges from $24.68 to $30.13 plus 8% Holiday Pay, with full training provided and opportunities to gain Level 2–4 Health and Wellbeing certificates.

Qualifications

• Reliable, respectful, patient and willing to learn.
• Able to work flexibly across casual shifts including weekends and sleepovers.
• Full NZ driver’s license is required.
• Comfortable using computers/tablets and good written/verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Support people with intellectual disabilities to live the lives they choose.
• Assist with community activities and daily routines at home.
• Provide physical support when needed.
• Participate in training and orientation to build confidence in the role.

About the role | Mō te tūnga

As a Support Worker you’ll support people with intellectual disabilities to live the lives they choose – whether that’s getting out into the community, trying something new, enjoying their favourite activities or simply getting through the everyday routines at home.

This is a casual role, with no guarenteed hours and shifts offered on an as-needed basis, giving you the flexibility to work around your other commitments.

What matters most is that you'rereliable, respectful, patient and willing to learn. We provide full training and orientation to help you feel confident in the role.

Flexible availability to pick up casual shifts, including weekends and sleepovers where required.

• Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.
• A Full NZ driver's license.
