Job summary

Cyclone Co is seeking an ICT Support Technician in Palmerston North to deliver high-quality repair and maintenance for laptops, mobile devices and ICT peripherals. You will diagnose problems, install systems, and troubleshoot to resolve issues for residential and business customers.

Hours start at 30 per week, potentially up to 45 depending on roster. Payrate ranges from $29 to $35 per hour based on experience, with two positions available.

Qualifications

• 1 year or more of relevant work experience in IT or electronics or any technical work
• Level 5 IT/electronics qualification or equivalent experience considered acceptable
• Knowledge repairing and maintaining mobile devices
• Understanding of repairing laptops, mobiles, computers and other electronics

Responsibilities

• Perform quality inspection and auditing
• Install and configure computer hardware OS and applications
• Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks
• Assemble and disassemble computers, laptops and devices
• Assist clients to resolve issues face-to-face or by phone
• Troubleshoot hardware/software faults and replace parts as needed
• Provide IT advice to commercial customers and produce reports

The ICT Support Technician is responsible for high-quality repair and maintenance service for a variety of IT devices including laptops, mobile phones, notepads, ICT peripherals, tablets, desktop computers and other electronic goods by diagnosing problems, installing, configuring and troubleshooting and resolution of technical problems.

Hours of work - minimum 30 hours per week and will be increased as required upto 45 hours based on weekly roster

Payrate - $29 to $35 based on the work experience

Number of positions - 2x

Employee’s tasks and duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Quality inspection and auditing
• Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications,
• Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks, both residential and business,
• Assemble and disassemble computers, laptops and other devices,
• Assist clients to resolve issues by face-to-face discussions or over the telephone,
• Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults,
• Replacing parts as required,
• Providing specific business IT advice to commercial and business customers,
• Providing support, including procedural documentation and relevant reports to senior members of the company,
• Supporting the roll-out of new applications/setting up new users’ accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues,
• Responding within agreed time limit to call outs
• Working continuously on task until completion (or referral to third parties, if appropriate)
• Prioritizing and managing many open cases at one time,
• Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with customers and other professionals,
• Testing and evaluation new technologies
• Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment
• Configuration of client’s equipment to connect to the internet via modem/DSL/router (Dial up/DSL customers only)
• Diagnose and Repair apple, Android and window phone
• Assisting senior members of staff, as required.
• Keep the shop nice and tidy
• Deal with customers in a daily basis and resolve the issues/complaints if any
• Protect employees and customers by providing safe and clean store environment. Ensure all health and safety standards are met.
• To do such other duties as the Manager/Director may from time to time direct

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE

• 1 year or more of relevant work experience in IT or electronics or any technical work
• Relevant Level 5 qualification (IT/electronics/Technician) can be considered in-lieu of work experience above
• Hold some knowledge repairing and maintaining mobile devices
• Have understanding of repairing laptops, mobile phones, computers, notepads and other electronic goods
• Good understanding of computers and communication devices
• Are you willing to work roaster shifts including weekend and public holidays
• Able to work overtime if needed
• Is able to interact appropriately with a wide range of people
• Solid judgment skills
• Hands-on approach and a willingness to learn
