Job summary

Fulton Hogan is seeking an experienced Structures Project Engineer to join the ŋtaki to North Levin – Te Pae o Tararua project. You will lead technical delivery, coordinate with contractors and consultants, and drive safety, quality and delivery across a 24.8km four-lane highway upgrade in New Zealand.

The role requires NZQF Level 7+ civil engineering, 5+ years in a structures portfolio, and proven leadership with strong collaboration and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Hold a bachelor/diploma in civil engineering at NZQF Level 7+.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Site Engineer in a structures civil portfolio (reinforced concrete, bridges, retaining walls, piling, treatment plants and pipelines, state highway flyovers).
• Proven experience working with contractors, consultants and key stakeholders.
• Commercial awareness with understanding of programme, cost, quality and risk management.
• Excellent leadership qualities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Collaborative leadership style with mentoring and development focus.

Responsibilities

• Manage teams and sub-contractors within your area and coordinate with other teams for resource optimisation.
• Plan execution of works and develop construction methodologies for all elements.
• Provide monthly cost-to-complete forecasts to the commercial manager and percentage completion to the planner.
• Provide technical advice and resolve on-site issues as they arise.
• Review drawings, specifications and construction methodologies.
• Maintain a safe, tidy site and contribute to management systems and compliance.
• Monitor expenses, process invoices, and contribute to financial reporting.
• Undertake regular inspections and drive health, safety, environmental and quality standards across the project.
