Job summary

John Jones Steel in New Zealand is seeking Experienced Riggers and Composite Floor Decking staff to work on various sites, with some projects requiring long out-of-town assignments. Safety and fitness are essential, and you’ll read drawings and follow directions on site.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in steel erection, strong English, and the ability to operate site tools, cranes, and bolting tasks. No agency or overseas applicants.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years experience in steel erection.
• Be familiar with fixing and securing of structural steel elements according to drawings.
• Be able to read and interpret structural steel drawings for the purposes of steel erection on site.
• Be able to communicate well in English and take direction from others (in English).
• Ability to undertake and record daily checks of machinery/equipment and report issues.
• A sound knowledge of mobile crane operations elevated work platforms and all relevant site tools and plant.
• A dogman / rigging licence is preferred, however, not essential.
• Ability to read and understand a plan and set out of jobs.
• Understanding of bolt tightening requirements.
• Current Heights ticket (desirable).
• A knowledge of fabrication and welding (advantageous).
• Be physically fit.
• A willingness to positively contribute to a diverse and inclusive environment.
• Be eager to learn.
• An ability to take direction.
• A very good understanding of written, spoken english.
