Potentia is seeking a senior-level advisor in New Zealand to lead engagement strategies across government, central agencies, and strategic technology suppliers. The role focuses on building systems and pathways to support high-value relationships and informed executive decision-making.

You will translate policy, market, and regulatory insights into practical strategic advice, working closely with senior digital leaders to align investments and procurement with policy objectives.

  • Design and maintain structured engagement models and governance pathways.
  • Support executive engagement with government, Ministerial, and Parliamentary stakeholders.
  • Translate policy, market, vendor, and regulatory intelligence into strategic advice.
  • Strengthen strategic vendor relationships and identify value beyond contracts.
  • Partner with Procurement on supplier intelligence and enterprise agreements.
  • Monitor external risks, vendor health, and market positioning.
  • Support governance forums with clear briefings and external context.
  • Build consistent stakeholder mapping, engagement planning, and relationship monitoring.

Your fit
  • You’ll likely bring senior experience across government, technology, and commercial environments
  • Strong networks across the New Zealand government digital ecosystem
  • Experience advising executives on strategic supplier and technology partnerships
  • Deep understanding of public sector investment governance, ICT policy, and digital strategy
  • Commercial confidence, including supplier negotiation and strategic investment support
  • Excellent judgement, communication, and stakeholder influence
  • Understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations in a public sector context
  • A relevant tertiary qualification; postgraduate study would be useful
