Job summary

Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency in Auckland/Wellington seeks a Lead Advisor, Planning & Development to support the National Manager and influence national transport programmes. You will bridge strategy and delivery, coordinating critical work programmes and directing executive-level communications.

You will operate at the heart of IDD, balancing big-picture thinking with practical delivery while building relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders across NZTA and beyond.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a senior advisory role or similar
• Experience supporting senior leaders in a large, complex organisation
• Outstanding written communication for executive/ministerial materials
• Strong problem-solving, planning and organisational skills
• Able to navigate ambiguity and shifting priorities

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational support to the National Manager Planning & Development
• Lead planning, governance and business performance activities
• Coordinate responses to emerging, sensitive and high-priority issues
• Develop Board, Ministerial and executive-level communications
• Strengthen collaboration across NZTA and the wider transport sector
• Lead special projects and strategic initiatives aligning with organisational objectives
