Auckland Council is seeking a Principal Advisor to support Houkura – Independent Māori Statutory Board in delivering its work programme and fulfilling its legislative purpose. You will advocate for and influence council policies, submissions, investments and projects relating to the Schedule of Issues of Significance to Māori.

In this role you’ll monitor progress, provide briefings to Houkura members and build relationships across the Auckland Council Group, central government and Māori

Formación

• Significant policy and report-writing experience.
• Ability to provide strategic advice and briefings.
• Strong engagement with mana whenua and Māori stakeholders.

Responsabilidades

• Provide strategic policy, planning and technical advice across social, environmental, economic and cultural matters.
• Develop position papers, submissions and advocacy that address Māori Issues of Significance.
• Support Houkura members through briefings, research and advice for council governance.
• Provide leadership on Te Tiriti o Waitangi responsibilities and Māori obligations.
• Strengthen relationships across the Council Group and government while mentoring colleagues.
