Job summary

Stats NZ is seeking a Senior Management Accountant in Wellington on a fixed-term basis through October 2027. You will report to the Deputy CFO and provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making during an organisation-wide transformation.

You will build relationships with business groups, deliver budgeting/forecasting support, and translate plans into detailed financial analyses and costings for strategic reviews.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce or Business
• CAANZ Chartered Accountant qualification, or equivalent, preferred
• Proven experience in business-facing senior management accounting roles
• Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
• Strong attention to detail when delivering financial analysis
• Ability to build relationships and engage with diverse stakeholders
• Exposure to financial modelling and complex financial analysis
• Experience in government/public sector would be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Provide trusted, forward-looking financial advice across portfolios
• Deliver budgeting and forecasting support to managers
• Translate business plans into financial plans with high-quality analysis
• Analyze cost of delivering products/services and long-term impacts
• Support detailed costings for strategic planning and business cases
• Identify risks and opportunities through detailed analysis
• Advise on technical accounting issues including Public Finance Act
• Collaborate with Finance Business Partner and wider Enabling Services Group
