Job summary

Novotel Queenstown Lakeside in New Zealand is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the hotel's finance function and partner with the Executive Leadership Team to drive business performance.

This senior role oversees budgeting, forecasting, reporting and capital expenditure, while ensuring NZ taxation compliance and owner reporting. You will build a high-performing finance team and provide strategic financial analysis to support operational decisions.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• CA /CPA professional qualification (or equivalent).
• At least five years’ experience in Financial Controller or senior finance role in hospitality.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Finance Department and oversee all financial operations.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash flow.
• Produce monthly management accounts and owner reports.
• Ensure compliance with New Zealand taxation, financial reporting and statutory obligations.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll oversight and banking functions.
• Monitor internal controls and implement continuous process improvements.
• Partner with department leaders to improve financial performance and cost control.
• Manage annual budgets, external audits and capital expenditure.
• Build, mentor and develop the Finance team.
• Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis and commercial insights.
