Job summary

BDO New Zealand seeks a seasoned General Manager to lead operations, finance, risk and people across our Wellington office. You will partner with the Managing Partner and executive team to set strategic direction and ensure exceptional service delivery to clients and staff alike.

You will oversee Corporate Services, drive efficiency, governance and performance, while shaping an engaging and high‑performing workplace culture and ensuring sustainable growth for the firm.

Qualifications

• Senior leadership experience in a GM or equivalent role.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen.
• Experience leading corporate services functions.
• Experience in a professional services environment would be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Managing Partner and Partners to deliver strategic objectives and drive performance.
• Lead day-to-day operations of the firm, ensuring efficient and sustainable practices.
• Provide leadership to the Corporate Services team, fostering a high‑performing culture.
• Oversee governance, risk and compliance frameworks to meet regulatory obligations.
• Support financial planning, budgeting and performance monitoring across the business.
• Deliver insights to support executive decision‑making and continuous improvement.
• Drive recruitment, engagement and organisational effectiveness initiatives.
• Oversee technology, facilities and key business support functions.
