Job summary

Te Taumata seeks a Financial Controller to provide senior technical and strategic financial leadership across the Group in Rotorua, NZ. You will work closely with the Finance Manager to steer the finance function’s growth and ensure robust workflows.

The role focuses on complex technical accounting, statutory compliance, tax, audit, and consolidated reporting, while delivering clear financial guidance to non‑finance stakeholders and maintaining strong controls as the organisation scales.

Qualifications

• Substantial senior experience in financial control, technical accounting, audit or statutory reporting.
• A recognised professional accounting qualification such as CA, CPA or equivalent, together with substantial senior finance leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience producing or overseeing entity level and consolidated group reporting, ideally within a multi‑entity or contract funded environment.
• The ability to translate complex financial information into clear, practical advice that non‑finance people can understand and use.
• A commitment to working in a values‑led, kaupapa Māori environment; an understanding of te reo me ōna tikanga would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior technical and strategic financial leadership across the Group.
• Oversee more complex technical accounting, statutory compliance, tax, audit, governance, and group consolidated reporting.
• Be the trusted adviser to governance and executives on major decisions, including capital investment and long‑term sustainability.
• Ensure reporting integrity and robust financial controls as the organisation grows in scale and complexity.
