Job summary

New Zealand Government agency in Wellington seeks a Supplier Advisor for the Conservation Services category within Procurement. You will lead end-to-end procurement: strategy, RFx, tender evaluations, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management to support conservation goals across Aotearoa.

The role is full-time and fixed-term to 29 October 2027 with Wellington preference but other locations will be considered.

Qualifications

2+ years' relevant experience in procurement/category management.
Strong analytical skills to review complex commercial situations and provide pragmatic solutions.
Experience in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders, suppliers, and senior managers.
Experience in managing contractual processes and sound contract law understanding.
Strong relationship building and partnering with internal and external stakeholders.
A tertiary qualification in procurement or commensurate experience preferred.
Understanding of the Maori Crown relationship is important to DOC.

Responsibilities

Leading end-to-end procurement processes including planning, RFx development, tender evaluations, and contract negotiation.
Advise on procurement strategy, approach-to-market options, and cross-agency initiatives.
Reviewing and drafting contracts to ensure alignment with organisational needs.
Managing supplier performance, preferred supplier lists, and panel arrangements.
Support development and improvement of procurement tools, templates, and processes.
