Job summary

New Zealand Police in Wellington is seeking a fixed-term Programme Manager to lead the AML/CFT Strategy and Work Programme. You will coordinate across Police and key government stakeholders to deliver initiatives that strengthen detection, investigations, and compliance.

The role requires strong governance, strategic planning, and technology modernization, with national scope and security clearance. You must reside in Wellington and be eligible to obtain a national security clearance.

Qualifications

Experience leading large‑scale programmes with multiple projects.
Ability to influence leaders and deliver complex programmes with cross‑government stakeholders.
Strong programme and project management skills including governance, planning, risk management, and reporting.
Experience establishing new capabilities, services or operating models.
Ability to translate strategic objectives into practical delivery plans.
Experience working with senior executives, governance boards and external stakeholders.
Sound judgement, resilience and a solutions‑focused mindset.

Responsibilities

Lead the nationally significant NZFIU transformation programme with governance and delivery oversight.
Build partnerships across government, law enforcement, industry, and non-profits.
Strengthen financial crime prevention via investigations, compliance, intelligence and analytics.
Champion intelligence-led, risk-based decision making and data quality.
Drive technology modernisation and benefits realisation across NZ Police.
