Job summary

New Zealand Defence Force – Wanganui, North Island, is seeking a Stores Assistant to provide specialist stores, inventory and logistics support to 2nd Combat Service Support Battalion. You will manage receipt, issue, transfer and accounting of stores, conduct stocktakes, and coordinate freight and materials to internal teams.

The role requires attention to detail, SAP proficiency, and a Class 1 NZ Driver Licence; forklift endorsement is desirable and travel across NZDF bases may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience with stock control, inventory management or warehousing operations.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
• Experience using SAP.
• Strong computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritise work, show initiative and work independently.
• A full Class 1 New Zealand Driver Licence (Essential).
• Forklift Endorsement and Dangerous goods handling experience (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Processing the receipt, issue, transfer and accounting of stores and equipment.
• Maintaining accurate inventory records and conducting regular stocktakes.
• Managing storage areas and ensuring equipment is stored safely and securely.
• Preparing, dispatching and receiving freight and materials.
• Providing professional customer service and logistics support to internal stakeholders.
