Job summary

Halter is seeking a Staff Product Designer in Auckland, NZ to lead a major area of our farmer-facing product experience. You will guide design strategy, collaborate with Product and Engineering, and turn complex challenges into intuitive solutions.

You’ll work closely with farmers and field insights to shape impactful product experiences, combining exceptional craft with strong product judgement. This role emphasizes ownership, high autonomy, and meaningful, long-term impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of product design experience, including senior/lead level.
• Exceptional visual and interaction design craft evidenced by a strong portfolio.
• Ownership mindset driving work forward without explicit briefs.
• Fluency with AI and ability to integrate into product experience.
• Strong systems thinking across individual and system-wide contexts.
• Excellent product judgement considering business, customer and technical context.
• Ability to lead complex, ambiguous projects from start to shipped product.
• Clear communication to influence stakeholders at multiple levels.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design vision and strategy for a significant area of Halter's farmer-facing product experience.
• Own the end-to-end design process from discovery through interaction design, prototyping, visual design and launch.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to define what we build, why, and how it should work, advocating for the farmer.
• Turn complex, ambiguous problem spaces into simple, intuitive, and trustworthy experiences.
• Work across multiple product surfaces and teams, balancing individual experiences with the broader system.
• Use customer insights and real field data to inform design decisions and validate ideas.
• Raise design quality through craft, critique, collaboration and leadership by example.
