Mercury is recruiting a Spot Trader to minimise risk and maximise generation value in the NZEM, with 24/7 scheduling across Auckland or Hamilton. The role offers training, career development, and opportunities to progress toward derivatives and portfolio management.
You will manage Mercury's asset portfolio, perform real-time dispatch, and develop trading strategies while collaborating with a wider team. A degree in Commerce/OR/Engineering and strong Excel skills are expected.

An exciting opportunity is available within the Mercury Wholesale Markets team for a Spot Trader looking to develop skills and knowledge within the Electricity Industry. The principle function of a Spot Trader is to minimise risk and maximise Mercury's generation value within the New Zealand Electricity Market (NZEM).
As the market runs 24/7, we are looking for someone to work on a roster basis covering days and nights at our Auckland or Hamilton offices, you will be rewarded with outstanding career development opportunities across the wider business, full training/support and great benefits.
This is a gateway role which can progress to derivatives and portfolio management.
