Job summary

Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is seeking an Analyst Spatial Intelligence to join our National team. You will apply GIS and spatial analysis to support forestry, ETS, and broader primary industries, develop spatial workflows, and provide policy advice and data analysis.

Collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders is essential. The role offers permanent, full-time work with opportunities to work across Tauranga, Wellington, Gisborne or Rotorua, utilizing ESRI ArcGIS Pro and

Qualifications

Graduate or intermediate GIS analyst with a couple of years' experience using ESRI ArcGIS Pro.
Experience with Python, R, SQL, and/or FME.
Ability to map and analyse forestry and/or ETS for forestry.

Responsibilities

Apply GIS and spatial analysis to support forestry and wider primary industries.
Understand and apply relevant legislation, policy, and regulations.
Assess ETS applications and estimate timeframes.
Contribute to development of innovative technical solutions (scripting, automation, and web tools).
Produce high-quality maps, reports, and analyses with independent initiative and critical thinking.
Maintain and use GIS datasets to support spatial intelligence.
Continuously improve processes and tools.
Peer review spatial products and methods.
Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
