Job summary

Rocket Lab in New Zealand is seeking a Development Engineer II to own fluid and mechanical design tasks for the Neutron program, delivering concepts, detailed designs, and drawing packages for metallic and composite structures. Proficiency with NX, Fibersim, SolidWorks and CATIA is expected.

You will collaborate with analysis and manufacturing teams to perform development and qualification tests, iterate designs, and ensure manufacturability and reliability while meeting tight schedules.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in aerospace, mechanical or mechatronic fields or equivalent.
  • Experience with CAD software: NX, Fibersim, SolidWorks, CATIA.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong analytical capability and big‑picture thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Produce CAD concepts and rapidly iterate designs for aluminum and composite parts.
  • Create detailed design elements including interfaces and laminates for structures.
  • Prepare drawing packages and laminate books prioritising manufacturability.
  • Develop test fixtures and prototypes for fabrication and validation.
  • Collaborate with analysis and manufacturing teams across vehicle domains.
