Sonographer, Nelson Hospital – Permanent Part‑time

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sonographer to join our Radiology team at Nelson Hospital on a permanent part‑time basis, working 24 hours per fortnight (0.3FTE). In this role, you will deliver a safe, high‑quality ultrasound service within a clinical environment, completing full examinations and recommending appropriate techniques to support patient care.

This position involves rostered and rotating shifts Monday to Sunday, with start and finish times between 8:00am and 9:00pm. There is no formal on‑call requirement, however best‑endeavours support may be required for acute criteria.

About You

You will bring:

• Experience across general, vascular, upper abdominal, obstetric, gynaecological, and musculo‑skeletal ultrasound
• Registration with the NZMRTB along with a current Annual Practising Certificate in Ultrasound
• Strong technical skills and sound clinical knowledge
• Well‑developed communication and critical‑thinking skills, with a commitment to family‑centred care
• The ability to work independently and as part of a small, supportive team
• A strong commitment to delivering high‑quality healthcare

You will also be adaptable, versatile, and comfortable working in a constantly changing clinical environment. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
