Job summary

Health New Zealand is seeking a qualified Sonographer to join our Radiology service across North Shore and Waitākere Hospitals on a casual basis. The role involves a varied caseload including general, obstetric, paediatric, vascular and musculoskeletal exams, with opportunities to train and teach colleagues.

To be successful, you will hold MRTB recognition and a current APC, have strong ultrasound experience (incl.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of ultrasound examinations across general, obstetric, paediatric, vascular and musculoskeletal.
  • Work across North Shore and Waitākere Hospitals on a casual, as-needed basis.
  • Contribute to education and training of trainee sonographers and healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary imaging team to deliver high-quality patient care.

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Sonographer to join our Radiology service, working across North Shore and Waitākere Hospitals on a casual basis. Our busy and well-established ultrasound departments provide a varied and rewarding caseload, including general, obstetric, paediatric, vascular, and some musculoskeletal examinations. This role offers the flexibility to work as and when required while contributing to a highly skilled and supportive multidisciplinary imaging team. As training hospitals, we provide an environment where you can further develop your expertise, broaden your clinical experience, and play an important role in supporting the education of trainee sonographers and other healthcare professionals. About You

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Sonographer who enjoys working collaboratively and is passionate about ongoing learning and teaching. To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Qualifications recognised by the New Zealand Medical Radiation Technologists Board (MRTB)
  • A current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Strong general ultrasound experience, including obstetrics
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to delivering high‑quality patient‑centred care
  • Experience in vascular ultrasound is highly desirable.
