Job summary

Systematic in Wellington, New Zealand, seeks a Solution Engineer for mission-critical software to deliver, integrate, test and support C4I solutions for Defence customers. The role balances hands-on delivery with continuous improvement, across cloud and on‑prem environments, in a hybrid work setting between Wellington and customer sites.

You will join a Defence Services team focusing on secure configurations, deployments, and training, with travel to Denmark HQ for onboarding and ongoing

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience with IT infrastructure and platforms (Windows, Linux, Android, Active Directory).
• Experience deploying software into cloud-based and on-prem environments.
• Experience with containerised workloads (Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher).
• Experience with Jira and Agile practices.
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
• Experience with version control systems (Git).
• Knowledge of military command information systems, tactical radio devices and radio networks (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Manage software installation, configuration and support in C4I environments for tests, training and operations.
• Set up and test integrations between C4I software and coalition systems, sensors and radios.
• Design, implement and support technical solutions.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and ensure clear communication.
• Develop and deliver technical training for customers and users.
• Provide Level 1/2 support for C4I products and integrations.
• Stay aligned with product roadmaps to maximize customer value.

Join our Defence Services team in Wellington as a customer-facing engineer delivering tactical communications systems and IT solutions. You’ll work across multiple technical disciplines in an agile environment, helping implement mission‑critical solutions for Defence customers.

You will be part of our Defence Services organisation and work between our Wellington CBD office and the customer site in Upper Hutt. You will join a small team of customer‑focused technical experts within a global, market‑leading organisation, working to implement our C2 software to support critical decision‑making in operational defence environments. This is a hands‑on technical delivery role with a strong focus on deploying, integrating, configuring, testing and supporting our solutions, while contributing to continuous improvement.

You’ll work hands‑on with modern, secure technical environments and configurations; performing development, testing, integration, and maintenance to keep our customer environments running. We invest heavily in training, so you’ll be fully supported from day one.

Your key responsibilities

• Managing software installation, configuration and support in the customer’s C4I environments for use in tests, training, exercises and actual operations
• Managing setup and testing of integrations between C4I software products and coalition systems, sensors, effectors and communication systems
• Designing, implementing and supporting technical solutions
• Ensuring alignment, effective communication and coordination between stakeholders
• Developing and delivering technical training to customers, administrators and users
• Providing level 1 and 2 support to customers on C4I software products, installation, integration with other software and equipment, and to end‑users
• Keeping up to date with C2 software product roadmaps to maximise value for customers
• Providing support to ensure projects are delivered within the agreed scope and on time

What you’ll bring

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant discipline
• Experience with IT infrastructure and platforms such as Windows, Linux, Android‑based operating systems, Active Directory, database management systems, XMPP chat
• Experience in deploying software applications into cloud‑based and on‑premises environments
• Experience with containerised workloads (Docker, Kubernetes and Rancher)
• Experience using Agile tools such as Jira to enhance delivery transparency and team co‑ordination
• Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, and Puppet
• Experience with version control systems like Git
• Knowledge of administration and operation of military command information systems, tactical radio devices and radio networks, and ITIL (desirable)

Expect around 10 days of domestic travel per year, plus a trip to our headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark as part of your onboarding.
