Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Solar Installer role based in Wānaka. The Solar Installer is responsible for installing solar panels, batteries, and associated system components on rooftops and ground-mounted structures, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant setups. Day-to-day tasks include site assessments, mounting and wiring solar equipment, testing and commissioning systems, and troubleshooting basic performance issues. The role also involves maintaining tools and equipment, following health and safety procedures, and collaborating with team members to deliver high-quality installations and excellent customer experiences. Clear communication with customers and the internal team is essential to support education, transparency, and ongoing system performance.

Qualifications

• Strong technical understanding of solar power and solar systems, including basic electrical principles and system configurations.
• Proficiency in safe use of power tools and hand tools for installation work on roofs and in varied site conditions.
• Knowledge of the solar industry, including current technologies, system components, and best practices in residential and commercial installations.
• Relevant trade or technical background (e.g., electrical, construction, or mechanical), with any solar installation experience considered an advantage.
• Ability to work safely at heights, follow health and safety regulations, and perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor environments.
• Good problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to high-quality workmanship and customer service.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a small, mission-focused team.
• Valid driver's license and eligibility to work on-site in Wānaka and surrounding areas.
