Job summary

Lightforce Solar in New Zealand is seeking a qualified Solar Electrician to install, test, commission and maintain residential and commercial solar and battery systems, working with experienced teams to meet high safety and quality standards. This is a hands-on outdoor role with opportunities to build renewable energy expertise.

You will be required to hold NZ Electrical Registration or NZ Limited Certificate (EWRB) and a full NZ Driver Licence.

Qualifications

• NZ Electrical Registration or NZ Limited Certificate (EWRB) is required.
• Full NZ Driver Licence is mandatory.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and specs.
• Experience with solar installations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Install, connect, test, and commission solar power systems.
• Install and maintain PV, inverters, battery storage, and switchgear.
• Interpret electrical drawings and installation documentation.

As a Solar Electrician at Lightforce, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality residential and commercial solar installations across New Zealand. Working alongside experienced installers and project teams, you’ll be responsible for installing, testing, commissioning, and maintaining solar and battery systems while ensuring all work meets the highest safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities

• Install, connect, test, and commission residential and commercial solar power systems.
• Install and maintain PV systems, inverters, battery storage, switchgear, and associated electrical equipment.
• Interpret electrical drawings, technical specifications, and installation documentation.
• Perform electrical testing, fault finding, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Ensure all work complies with New Zealand electrical standards and safety regulations.
• Support installation teams to deliver projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
• Assist with stock management, warehouse duties, and equipment handling when required.
• Participate in health and safety initiatives, toolbox talks, and site compliance activities.
• Deliver professional customer service and maintain positive client relationships.

Skills & Experience

• NZ Electrical Registration or NZ Limited Certificate (EWRB).
• Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
• Strong understanding of electrical installation, testing, and fault-finding practices.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and technical documentation.
• Comfortable working at heights and on rooftops.
• Physically fit with a practical, hands‑on approach to work.
• Strong commitment to health and safety practices
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within a team.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Experience with solar installations, battery systems, EV chargers, residential, commercial, or industrial electrical work is advantageous.
