Job description

We’re looking for an experienced, hands‑on Lead Solar Installer to join our installation team.

This role suits someone who already understands how a solar installation site runs and can contribute confidently from day one including leading the roof installation and solar DC cabling. You’ll typically work in an installation team alongside a qualified electrician and second solar installer, taking responsibility for roof measuring, panel mounting, racking systems, cable management, hardware assembly, and general site execution – helping ensure installs are completed safely, efficiently, and to our high standards.

You’ll be expected to work with minimal supervision, anticipate what’s needed on site, and support and take a leadership role with the wider team to keep all our jobs moving smoothly. This is a physical, practical role that involves regular work at heights and outdoors in all conditions.

This is not an electrician role and is not intended as an electrical apprenticeship pathway. The focus is on high-quality mechanical installation, site discipline, and supporting efficient delivery of high-quality installations.

About You

You’ll be a good fit if you bring solid site experience, motivated and take pride in your work.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • 2+ years’ experiencein rooftop solar installation, or 5+ years’ experience in another transferable trade such as construction or roofing with the ability to learn quickly
  • Ability to help lead and drive one of the installation teams, including job/forward planning to ensure efficient installation, communicating clearly with the installation and operations teams, and the ability to problem solve quickly when required
  • Proven confidence working with hand and power tools, racking systems, and fixings
  • Strong awareness of working at heights, site safety, and hazard management
  • The ability to work independently on allocated tasks and support and manage less experienced team members when required to drive safe, high quality and efficient installation
  • A current full driver’s licence, with flexibility for regional travel and occasional overnight stays (typically 1-2 nights per month)
  • High standards of workmanship, attention to detail, and pride in leaving sites clean and well presented
  • A practical, reliable approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

Solar-specific experience is preferred, but strong transferable trade experience will also be considered.
