Job summary

Counties Energy is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering Team to deliver innovative digital platforms across Counties Energy and subsidiaries. You will help design smart technical solutions, influence technology roadmaps, and implement modern tech stacks to drive the digital transformation of the energy sector.

Based in Pukekohe, you’ll work with teams across the business to turn ideas into impactful solutions that enhance customer experiences and business outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Digital enterprise and/or solutions architecture.
  • Design and develop Spring Boot applications using Java or Kotlin.
  • Develop responsive web applications with React.
  • Familiar with containerisation with Docker.
  • Familiar with AWS Services (ECS, S3, Lambda, Aurora, Event Bridge, etc.).
  • Build CI/CD pipelines.
  • Write Unit tests.

  • Contribute to delivering innovative digital platforms across Counties Energy and subsidiaries.
  • Design smart technical solutions and influence technology roadmaps.

We are on the hunt for a Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering Team and play a key role in delivering innovative digital platforms across Counties Energy and our subsidiaries. From designing smart technical solutions and influencing technology roadmaps to implementing modern tech stacks, you’ll help drive the digital transformation of the energy sector.

Working closely with teams across the business, you’ll turn ideas into impactful solutions that improve customer experiences and business outcomes. If you’re passionate about technology, love solving complex problems, and to make a real difference through innovation, we’d love to hear from you.

Essential Technical Skills
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Digital enterprise and/or solutions architecture
  • Design and develop Spring Boot applications using Java or Kotlin
  • Develop responsive web applications with React
  • Familiar with containerisation with Docker
  • Familiar with AWS Services (ECS, S3, Lambda, Aurora, Event Bridge, etc.)
  • Build CI/CD pipelines
  • Write Unit tests
Awesome to have(but happy to help you on the learning journey)
  • Test automation: write e2e tests and integrate them in the CI/CD pipeline.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as code platforms such as Pulumi, Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible. etc.
  • Develop architectural designs from inception
  • Experience with Event-Driven Architecture.
To be successful in this role, you will:
  • Have a proven track record in customer centred user design, product ownership and an Agile environment
  • A proven track record of implementing new and emerging technologies
  • Experience in delivering products and platforms within medium to large customer‑centric organisations or in start‑up environments
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships, influence, and work cross‑functionally with other team members and all levels of management within an organisation.
  • Able to work independently with a team, facilitating key interactions such as workshopping and training
  • Excellent presentation skills with solid communication capabilities and practices, both oral and written, including sound negotiation and problem‑solving skills
