Job summary

Starship Community, part of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Auckland, is seeking a Social Worker for a full-time fixed-term 9-month contract to support children and whānau in home, school and community settings from Greenlane Clinical Centre.

You will join an interdisciplinary team, provide social work services, and work toward improving access and outcomes for whānau and tamariki, in a bicultural environment.

Qualifications

• New Zealand registration with an Annual Practising Certificate.
• Clean New Zealand driver’s license.
• Passion for improving outcomes for whānau and children.
• 2+ years of Social Work clinical experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary bicultural environment.

Responsibilities

About the role

We are seeking a Social Worker in a fixed term (9 months), full-time capacity to provide parental leave cover. Although the office is based out of Greenlane Clinical Centre most of the work is delivered to children, young people, their families and whānau in their home, school and community settings. The primary purpose of the role is to provide social work as a member of a multidisciplinaryteam to children and their families and whānau referred to Starship Community. The role supports efforts to improve access to services and achieve better outcomes for the communities we serve and uses evidence and insights to identify barriers and opportunities for improvement.

About the Team/Service/Location

Based at Greenlane Clinical Centre, Starship Community provides interdisciplinary care and cultural support to children; young people, their families and whānau living within the Auckland area. A part of the Starship Child Health directorate, our nursing; allied health and technical staff are responsible for delivering health care services to children, young people, and whānau in their home; school and community settings. Service delivery is via an inter-disciplinary team approach, centred around three guiding principles:Whānau- centred approachElimination of inequities in achieving health and wellbeing outcomes for Māori and other priority populations with high health and/or social needs.Knowing and working closely within the community (Locality based)

About you

• New Zealand registration as a Social Worker with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
• A clean, full, New Zealand driver's license
• An overriding passion for improving outcomes for whānau and children
• 2+ years of Social Work clinical experience
• Ability to work collaboratively with a range of professional groups in an interdisciplinary bicultural environment
• Effective time management, prioritisation and organisational skills
