Job description

Neuralconnexion Research Institute is seeking a talented social media creator to build and run presence on Instagram and TikTok from the ground up: filming, editing and publishing short-form video content that makes neuroscience genuinely interesting to a general audience, alongside content aimed at doctors and other health professionals. This role offers real ownership of the public voice and direct working relationship with Trustees.

Key responsibilities

About you

Demonstrable experience creating short-form video content for Instagram and TikTok, with results you can point to

Strong video editing skills (CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or similar) and confidence shooting on a phone

Excellent written English and a feel for tone: you can write a hook, and you know the difference between speaking to the public and speaking to clinicians

Design ability (Canva, Adobe Express or similar)

Comfortable working independently, managing your own time, and meeting a publishing schedule without supervision

A genuine interest in health, science or education

Valid New Zealand work rights (we are not able to sponsor visas)

About us

Neuralconnexion Research Institute is a New Zealand charitable trust dedicated to neuroscience education, research and public brain health. Our work spans three areas: education for health professionals through symposia, workshops, CME events and publications that improve the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of neurological conditions; public awareness helping New Zealanders understand brain health and how to reduce their risk of stroke, dementia, migraine and other neurological conditions; and research and collaboration supporting neurological research and working with universities, hospitals and community groups. We are a small, founder-led organisation.

A permanent part-time employed role, not a contract or freelance arrangement, with annual leave, sick leave, public holidays and KiwiSaver

One day per week (8 hours), with the day of the week agreed to suit you and able to be varied by arrangement

Hybrid working: a mix of working from home and on-site at Remuera rooms, agreed with you

Equipment provided if needed: mobile phone and laptop

Access to education programme — you are welcome to attend the symposia, workshops and CME events

Direct working relationship with a consultant neurologist, and real scope to shape the creative direction of our channels

Portfolio material you will not build anywhere else, in a subject people are genuinely curious about

Meaningful work: the content you make will help people understand and protect their brain health
