Department of Conservation (DOC) in Rotorua is seeking a Site Support Officer to provide essential administrative support for regional DOC facilities. The role focuses on site coordination, office management, and vehicle upkeep, reporting to the Operations Advisor.

The 0.5 FTE position offers pro-rata salary and flexible days/hours to be negotiated. NZ work visa eligibility applies; driver’s licence is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in broad administration support, facility or fleet management.
  • Customer service experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in general office management, including record-keeping, scheduling and day-to-day operations.
  • Detail-oriented problem solver with strong organisation and multi-priority management.
  • Excellent communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Tech-savvy and able to adopt new systems quickly.
  • Ability to coordinate tasks on site to completion.
  • Proactive approach and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices (or willingness to learn).
  • New Zealand full drivers’ licence.

The Department of Conservation (DOC) protects and manages Aotearoa New Zealand's natural and historic heritage for the benefit of present and future generations. Our Regional Operations Group delivers frontline conservation work that protects and enhances the places, species, and ecosystems entrusted to our care. Reporting to the Operations Advisor, the Site Support Officer plays a key part in delivering essential administrative support to help ensure the efficient and safe functioning of DOC facilities across the region.

The position will be focussed on:
  • Supporting the Site Lead to ensure smooth and safe operation of DOC premises, acting as the main site contact for office and facility issues
  • Being the go-to person for general office management
  • Ensuring DOC pool vehicles at site are fit for purpose and maintained as required (such as services and WOFs etc)
  • Support key site health and safety tasks such as safety/fire drills, site inductions, regular checks and ACC safety audits

Please note: This role is 0.5FTE. Days/ Hours to be negotiated between hiring manager and successful candidate.

  • Previous customer service experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience in general office management, including record-keeping, scheduling, and supporting day-to-day operations.
