The Department of Conservation (DOC) in Rotorua seeks a Site Support Officer to provide essential administrative support and help ensure the safe, smooth operation of DOC facilities.

This permanent, part-time role is 20 hours per week with a pro-rata salary ranging from NZD 65,590 to NZD 76,589, depending on skills and experience. You will coordinate office tasks, fleet and safety activities, and act as the main site contact.

Qualifications

  • Experience in broad administrative support, facility or fleet management.
  • Customer service experience is advantageous.
  • Experience in general office management, including record-keeping, scheduling, and supporting day-to-day operations.
  • Detail-oriented problem solver with strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Tech-savvy and quick to adopt new systems and technologies.
  • Ability to coordinate tasks and follow through on site-related issues to completion.
  • Proactive, continuous improvement mindset and efficiency driven.
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety practices (or willingness to learn).
  • NZ full drivers' licence is required.

Responsibilities

  • Support Site Lead to ensure smooth, safe operation of DOC premises; act as main site contact for office and facility issues.
  • Be the go-to person for general office management and processes.
  • Ensure DOC pool vehicles at site are fit for purpose and maintained (services, WOFs, etc).
  • Support site health and safety tasks such as safety drills, inductions, checks and ACC audits.

About the role

The Department of Conservation (DOC) protects and manages Aotearoa New Zealand's natural and historic heritage for the benefit of present and future generations. Our Regional Operations Group delivers frontline conservation work that protects and enhances the places, species, and ecosystems entrusted to our care.

Reporting to the Operations Advisor, the Site Support Officer plays a key part in delivering essential administrative support to help ensure the efficient and safe functioning of DOC facilities across the region.

The position will be focussed on:
  • Supporting the Site Lead to ensure smooth and safe operation of DOC premises, acting as the main site contact for office and facility issues
  • Being the go-to person for general office management
  • Ensuring DOC pool vehicles at site are fit for purpose and maintained as required (such as services and WOFs etc)
  • Support key site health and safety tasks such as safety/fire drills, site inductions, regular checks and ACC safety audits
