About the Role

This role combines site engineering expertise with permit-to-work coordination to support the safe and efficient delivery of major infrastructure works. While you'll be involved in project planning and site activities, the primary focus is coordinating and managing permits to ensure work is authorised, compliant, and completed safely.

You'll work closely with construction teams, subcontractors, designers, and project stakeholders to keep work moving while maintaining strong safety and documentation standards.

  • Coordinate and authorise permits for construction activities, ensuring safety requirements are understood and followed
  • Review planned work activities, identify potential risks, and confirm appropriate controls are in place before work begins
  • Conduct site inspections and monitor compliance with permit conditions and project requirements
  • Support project planning, programming, procurement, quality assurance, and day-to-day engineering activities
  • Maintain accurate records including permits, site documentation, asset information, and daily reporting
  • Work collaboratively with project teams, subcontractors, designers, and health and safety personnel to coordinate safe and effective delivery
What you’ll bring to the role
  • A qualification in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Experience coordinating permits, managing work authorisations, utility clearances, isolations, or other safety-critical activities within construction or infrastructure projects
  • Around 2+ years' experience in civil or infrastructure projects, ideally within New Zealand
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety practices, risk assessment, and permit-to-work systems
  • Experience interpreting drawings, specifications, and asset information, with CAD and digital engineering skills advantageous
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work closely with contractors, site teams, and project stakeholders
