Job summary

Fluid Recruitment is seeking a capable Site Engineer to join a major civil construction project delivering a new substation near Dunedin. You will provide day-to-day engineering support, coordinate earthworks, drainage, foundations and structural works, and help ensure safety, quality and programme alignment.

Accommodation support in Mosgiel is available for relocating or traveling candidates, with further substation work opportunities across the South Island as the project progresses.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years' of NZ experience in a Site Engineer or similar civil construction role.
• Experience working on civil infrastructure or industrial construction projects.
• A good understanding of quality assurance, site reporting, procurement and construction documentation.
• Exposure to concrete construction, foundations or structural works will be highly regarded.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities on a busy construction site.
• Good communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively with supervisors, subcontractors and project management.
• A proactive attitude, sound problem-solving ability and a willingness to get involved across all aspects of project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day engineering support to site operations and construction teams.
• Coordinate and monitor construction activities across earthworks, drainage, concrete and structural works.
• Manage quality assurance (QA), inspections, ITPs and project documentation to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Undertake site reporting, track progress and assist with construction programming.
• Support procurement activities, including ordering materials, coordinating suppliers and managing subcontractor requirements.
• Assist with resolving technical issues and coordinating construction methodologies.
• Work closely with the Project Manager, supervisors, subcontractors and other stakeholders to maintain programme and quality expectations.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
