Job summary

Temperzone Limited in Hamilton, NZ, is seeking a hands-on Welder/Fabricator to fabricate, weld, assemble, and support maintenance activities ensuring production schedules are met with high-quality standards.

The role involves working with sheet metal machinery, welding equipment, and a range of hand and power tools. Applicants should have sheet metal fabrication/welding experience and NZ Level 4 qualification, with a focus on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• New Zealand Welding, Trades & Services Level 4 qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in welding and light fabrication.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes and assembly techniques.
• Basic fabrication and mechanical repair skills.
• Understanding of maintenance practices within a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot minor equipment faults.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to maintain inventory and documentation records.
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
• Attention to detail, flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Perform TIG and MIG welding on aluminium and stainless-steel sheet metal components.
• Select appropriate materials and inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
• Read and interpret technical drawings to fabricate parts accurately.
• Operate sheet metal machinery, welders, and hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Carry out assembly and sub-assembly activities, including quality assurance checks and product packing.
• Support production teams by working across different manufacturing areas as required.
• Perform light fabrication, routine maintenance, and minor repairs on plant, machinery, and facilities.
• Assist with equipment fault diagnosis, breakdown response, and maintenance planning activities.
• Maintain spare parts inventory records and ensure maintenance documentation is kept up to date.
• Follow all health and safety requirements, including the use of PPE and reporting of incidents or unsafe conditions.
