Job summary

Marketplace in Southland, NZ seeks a skilled Sheet Metal Trade Worker for light fabrication, TIG/MIG welding, and machine operation. You will read drawings, cut, shape, and weld sheet metals (stainless steel, aluminium, mild steel) to high standards, with 30–60 hours weekly and weekly pay.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of experience, strong welding skills, and the ability to interpret technical shop drawings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Strong proficiency in TIG/MIG welding of light metals.
• Ability to read and work accurately from technical shop drawings.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints and specifications to determine job requirements.
• Select metal stock and verify sizes and dimensions per specs.
• Mark out stock with reference points and measuring tools.
• Cut stock using hand and power shears, guillotines and drills.
• Shape and form metal using folding and bending machines.
• Weld or assemble components into final products.
• Finish products by polishing and cleaning.
• May repair or on-site assemble sheet metal components.
