Job summary

Tiaki Wai, in partnership with Fulton Hogan, is seeking a dedicated nightshift water technician to service the Wellington region from our Porirua Depot. The role involves installing and repairing water connections, tackling a mix of planned and reactive works, with a focus on safety and quality.

You’ll join a dedicated nightshift crew, five nights weekly, 10-hour shifts from 8pm to 6:30am. We offer ongoing training and development, a health and safety focused culture, and a rewarding career path

Qualifications

• Practical trade or civil industry experience, ideally in the water sector.
• Reliable, hard-working attitude and willingness to do manual labour.
• Ability to use iPad/tablet to record information.
• Commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
• Full, clean NZ Class 1 driver license; Class 2/WTR is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair water connections on mains of all sizes.
• Work on planned and reactive jobs across the Wellington region.
• Ensure all work complies with trade practice and safety standards.
• Flush and charge water mains as required.
• Collaborate with various teams and contractors to achieve results.

• Permanent Nightshift based out of our Porirua Depot with work around Wellington region
• Weekly wages with more earning potential through paid overtime and allowances

The opportunity

It’s an important job maintaining our most precious assets - water, health, and the environment – and here’s your chance to be involved.

Role

Our water teams play a critical role in ensuring a continual supply of quality water with minimal interruptions to communities. No two days will be the same as you head out across the Wellington region undertaking a mix of planned and reactive works where you'll:

• Install and repair water connections on all sizes of mains
• Work on jobs of all shapes and sizes
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with trade practice
• Flush and charge water mains
• Work together with various teams and contractors to achieve results

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Practical trade or civil industry experience, ideally in the water sector, with the ability to use hand tools, small plant, and machinery.
• A reliable, hard-working, and can-do attitude.
• The ability to use technology (i.e., iPad or tablet) to record information.
• An understanding and commitment to health and safety in the workplace.
• A full, clean driver’s NZ class 1 Licence is a must & class 2, WTR is an added benefit.
• Enjoy working outdoors and can complete manual labour tasks.
