Job summary

BTW Company in Hamilton, NZ seeks a Senior Civil Engineer – Transport Infrastructure to shape and deliver safe, practical roading and transport projects for local government and private clients. You will lead projects from scoping through to detailed design, construction drawings, and documentation, including procurement support.

This senior role requires extensive road asset management experience, NZ regulatory knowledge, and strong communication.

Qualifications

Diploma in Civil Engineering or higher education.
10+ years’ road asset management experience.
5+ years’ experience applying regulatory frameworks within New Zealand or Australia.
Excellent communication, autonomy, analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.
Full NZ Drivers Licence – Class 1.
This is a senior role.

Responsibilities

Lead roading design projects from early scoping and investigations through to detailed design and construction documentation.
Oversee and guide design outputs working with BTW designers.
Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and estimates, ensuring designs are practical, buildable, and fit-for-purpose.
Ground-truth designs through site visits, stakeholder engagement, and close coordination with contractors and project teams.
Provide senior technical support through procurement and construction, including design clarifications and issue resolution to keep delivery on track.
