Job summary

Ando is building its automation capability from the ground up. We are seeking a senior Test Automation Engineer who will design and implement scalable automation frameworks, set best practices, and grow our team of Test Analysts.

This role will own the framework using Playwright and TypeScript, expand coverage across web and API testing, and mentor others while promoting an automation-first culture.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with experience delivering software.
• Proven experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks from scratch.
• Proficient with Playwright and TypeScript.
• Experience automating web, API and CI/CD testing in Agile environments.
• Natural coach able to develop others and influence best practice.
• Strong cross-functional communication across technical and business teams.

At Ando, we're not just looking for someone to write automated tests. We're looking for a senior engineer who can help shape how quality engineering is done across our business.

This is a newly created role and a genuine opportunity to make your mark. You'll be our first dedicated Test Automation Engineer, taking the lead on designing and building scalable automation frameworks, establishing best practices, and helping our team of talented Test Analysts grow their automation capability.

This role would suit a Software Engineer who has specialised in test automation, rather than someone whose experience has been solely within manual testing.

What you'll be doing

Build and own Ando's test automation framework using Playwright and TypeScript

Increase automation coverage across our web and API platforms while embedding quality throughout the delivery lifecycle

Mentor and coach our team of Test Analysts, helping lift automation capability across the business

Champion automation best practices and help shape Ando's automation-first approach

What we're looking for

A strong software engineering background with experience building and delivering software

Proven experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks from scratch

Highly proficient with Playwright and TypeScript - this is essential

Experience automating web, API and CI/CD testing in modern Agile environments

A natural coach and mentor who enjoys developing others and influencing best practice

Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams
