The Audit Office in Wellington is seeking a permanent Senior Technical Lead, Cloud Platforms to lead design, security, and performance of our Microsoft cloud platforms (Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID).

You will drive automation, infrastructure as code, and resilience, deliver complex platform changes, and provide senior technical leadership across internal teams and external partners in a hybrid environment, with security clearance eligibility required.

# Senior Technical Lead, Cloud Platforms at The Audit Office, Wellington - Wairarapa## Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role**Senior Technical Lead, Cloud Platforms**The Audit Office is part of a constitutional framework designed to protect the financial integrity of New Zealand's system of government. It provides independent assurance to Parliament and the public that public organisations are operating and accounting for their performance as Parliament intended.We're looking for a permanent Senior Technical Lead, Cloud Platforms to lead the design, security, and performance of our Microsoft cloud platforms. This is a senior technical role focused on Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, automation, resilience, and continuous improvement in a cloud-first environment.**What you'll do*** Lead the design, implementation, and support of Microsoft cloud platforms.* Strengthen secure-by-design foundations across Azure, Microsoft 365, and Entra ID.* Drive automation and continuous improvement through infrastructure as code and engineering best practice.* Lead complex platform changes, including migrations, modernisation, and resilience improvements.* Provide senior technical leadership and work closely with internal teams and vendors.**Knowledge and experience you'll bring*** Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and Entra ID in an enterprise environment.* Experience with automation and infrastructure as code, including tools such as Terraform, Bicep, ARM, and PowerShell.* Excellent knowledge of cloud security, identity and access management, resilience, monitoring, and operational support.* Experience working across hybrid infrastructure, including networking, backup, recovery, and platform modernisation.* The ability to provide trusted technical advice, build strong relationships, and contribute as a senior technical leader.You'll join an organisation with a strong public purpose, flexible hybrid working, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through modern, secure technology platforms.This role leads the delivery of secure, scalable cloud platforms — from engineering and improving CI/CD pipelines to supporting hybrid environments in production.
