Job summary

Rocket Lab in Auckland, New Zealand, seeks a Senior Structural Analyst - Neutron to own designs for the Neutron launch vehicle from concept to completion, collaborating with design, manufacturing and test teams.

You will build and run FE models, define test plans, and document analysis methods while supporting composite structures and metallic components; mentoring junior engineers and meeting tight schedules in a high-pressure environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience performing structural analysis in high-performance applications.
• Strong understanding of composites engineering fundamentals (mechanics of materials, lamination theory, material property characterization).
• Experience with structural FEA packages: NASTRAN, ANSYS, Abaqus, Optistruct/Hyperworks.
• Experience with structural testing of composite components or assemblies.
• Familiarity with composite manufacture and prototyping.
• Ability to work to deadlines in a high-pressure environment.

Responsibilities

• Support analysis of primary and secondary structures, including composites and metallic components.
• Build, run, and post-process FE models for design responses under static, dynamic, and thermal loads.
• Collaborate with design and manufacturing to select materials and build processes.
• Define test plans with test engineers and post-process data vs analytical predictions.
• Develop and document structural analysis methods.
• Identify and solve technical challenges to keep projects on pace.
• Mentor junior engineers.
