Job summary

Lightspeed in Auckland is seeking a Senior Software Development Manager to lead engineers and managers across several teams. You will coach leaders, partner with Product and Design, and ensure clear delivery strategy while maintaining hands-on technical involvement where beneficial.

You’ll drive reliability, quality, and continuous delivery, remove blockers, and help the organization navigate complex technical decisions. This role offers hybrid work and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Experience leading high-performing engineering teams, including other people leaders.
• Strong technical foundation and hands-on software engineering experience.
• Experience delivering complex software or SaaS products across multiple teams.
• Ability to give clear feedback and help people grow.

Responsibilities

• Lead Engineers directly and through managers across multiple engineering teams.
• Coach and develop leaders across teams.
• Partner with Product and Design to align strategy, roadmaps and delivery.
• Create clarity through clear expectations and feedback for growth.
• Remove blockers and manage risk to ensure reliable execution.
• Stay close to the tech with system design and code reviews, especially in Golang.
• Raise engineering quality, reliability and continuous delivery.
• Navigate complex technical decisions and trade-offs.
• Drive improvements across the wider engineering organisation.
• Build relationships with Engineering, Product, Design and the business.
