Job summary

Tower Insurance in Auckland is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build beautifully simple digital experiences while lifting engineering capability across teams. You’ll design, build and deliver high-quality software solutions that create rewarding customer experiences and help protect the future of Aotearoa.

You'll mentor peers, lead technical discussions and own solution design. Proficiency in React, TypeScript, Redux, .NET Core and RESTful APIs is expected, with Azure, SQL and modern CI/CD

Qualifications

Extensive experience building modern web apps with React/TypeScript.
Strong knowledge of .NET Core, REST APIs and cloud platforms (Azure).
Proven ability to lead design discussions and mentor engineers.
Solid practice of TDD, Clean Code and secure coding principles.
Experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes and GitHub workflows.
Familiarity with SAFe or scaled Agile environments.

We’re looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join Tower and help build beautifully simple digital experiences while lifting engineering capability across our teams.

Your day-to-day would look like:

Design, build and deliver high-quality software solutions that create simple, rewarding customer experiences.

Solve complex technical problems by turning them into practical, scalable and maintainable solutions.

Collaborate, mentor and grow, sharing knowledge with your peers and contributing to an empowered engineering culture.

What success looks like in 6–12 months

Deliver high-quality, reliable digital solutions, integrating effectively across systems while embedding strong engineering practices such as TDD and Clean Code.

Become a trusted technical leader, taking ownership of solution design and confidently leading technical discussions and decisions.

Lift capability across the team by mentoring engineers, sharing knowledge and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve better outcomes.

What you'll need

Strong experience with React, TypeScript, Redux, .NET/.NET Core and RESTful APIs, building modern and accessible web applications.

Experience with Microsoft Azure, SQL databases, integrations and modern styling approaches including SCSS or CSS-in-JS.

Strong knowledge of unit testing, TDD, Clean Code, secure coding, technical debt and technology lifecycle management.

Experience with modern CI/CD practices and Docker, with Kubernetes, Jenkins and GitHub advantageous.

Demonstrated experience leading solution design and taking technical ownership of complex digital product delivery.

Strong mentoring and collaboration skills, with experience in scaled Agile/SAFe and exposure to AI-assisted development. Knowledge of OAuth/OIDC, Auth0, Java/Kotlin or Kafka is beneficial.
