Job description

Senior Radio & Network Solutions Engineer

Agile Networks 2025 Limited – Auckland, North Island

Senior Radio & Network Solutions Engineer
Licensed Microwave | Carrier Networking | Pathloss | Quoting | RFP & Solution Design

Agile Networks is a New Zealand-owned specialist telecommunications company designing and delivering resilient radio and network infrastructure for utilities, telecommunications providers, industry, and critical infrastructure customers.

We work across licensed microwave, long-range and short-haul radio, carrier-grade IP networking, and increasingly private wireless technologies.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Radio & Network Solutions Engineer who is technically strong across radio and IP networking, proficient in Pathloss, and can support customer solutions, quoting and RFPs from day one.

Your core strength must be hands-on engineering. This is not a pure presales or documentation role.

The Role

You will take senior technical ownership across the design, quoting, delivery, commissioning, and support of radio and IP network solutions.

You will work directly with customers, vendors, and our commercial team to develop solutions, build accurate quotes, support tenders and RFPs, and turn customer requirements into practical, commercially viable designs.

The role spans the full lifecycle from initial requirement through to live operation.

What You'll Be Doing
Radio Engineering
  • Designing licensed microwave, long-range, short-haul, PtP and PtMP radio links
  • Using Pathloss as a core design tool for radio planning and validation
  • Performing link budgets, path profiling, clearance analysis, availability modelling, and interference assessment
  • Assessing terrain, Fresnel clearance, antenna heights, frequencies, capacity, and resilience requirements
  • Selecting appropriate radio technologies, frequencies, antennas, and supporting infrastructure
  • Supporting spectrum licensing and regulatory requirements
  • Troubleshooting and optimising operational RF networks
Network Engineering
  • Designing IP and Ethernet network solutions supporting radio and critical infrastructure environments
  • Working with routing, switching, VLANs, Ethernet services, and network resilience
  • Integrating radio infrastructure with carrier, enterprise, and industrial networks
  • Troubleshooting network performance and connectivity issues
  • Supporting commissioning and operational support across both RF and IP layers
Quoting & Commercial Support
  • Producing accurate customer quotes from day one
  • Translating technical designs into complete BOMs and commercial proposals
  • Obtaining and validating vendor pricing
  • Ensuring quotes include all required hardware, licences, support, engineering, commissioning, and delivery effort
  • Identifying assumptions, exclusions, dependencies, and commercial risks
  • Understanding margin and ensuring solutions are commercially viable
  • Working with sales and leadership to refine pricing where required
  • Updating quotes as customer requirements or vendor pricing changes
  • Supporting quote reviews before submission to customers
Solutions & RFPs
  • Supporting RFPs, tenders, and major bids from day one
  • Owning RF and network sections of technical responses
  • Producing technical designs, diagrams, BOMs, and technical justifications
  • Developing compliance responses, assumptions, risks, and technical clarifications
  • Building the technical and commercial inputs required for bid pricing
  • Participating in customer discovery and technical workshops
  • Translating customer requirements into practical solution designs
  • Explaining and defending proposed technical approaches
  • Working with vendors and partners to develop end-to-end solutions
Delivery & Operations
  • Supporting implementation and commissioning
  • Working alongside internal engineers, customers, and delivery partners
  • Participating in site surveys and field activities where required
  • Supporting customers following deployment
  • Taking ownership of complex technical issues through to resolution
What We're Looking For

You should be technically senior across radio and networking, with particularly strong capability in radio engineering and solid practical networking capability.

You should have:

  • Strong experience with licensed microwave or carrier-grade RF networks
  • Strong practical proficiency in Pathloss
  • The ability to independently design and validate radio links using Pathloss
  • Strong understanding of RF propagation, link budgeting, terrain, Fresnel clearance, interference, and availability
  • Experience with PtP and/or PtMP radio systems
  • Good IP networking capability including routing, switching, VLANs, and Ethernet services
  • Experience designing or supporting resilient telecommunications networks
  • Experience troubleshooting live operational infrastructure
  • Experience producing technical quotes, BOMs, and customer proposals
  • Experience working with vendor pricing and understanding solution margin
  • Experience contributing to RFPs, tenders, or formal technical proposals
  • The ability to produce clear technical designs, diagrams, BOMs, and documentation
  • Confidence working directly with customers and vendors
  • The ability to explain and defend technical designs
  • Strong ownership and problem-solving capability
  • Practical understanding of how infrastructure is deployed, commissioned, and operated
Useful Experience

Any of the following would be valuable:

  • Ceragon or similar microwave platforms
  • Utility or critical infrastructure networks
  • Telecommunications carrier environments
  • Carrier Ethernet
  • Industrial networking
  • Fibre networking
  • Spectrum licensing and RSM requirements
  • Rural or remote connectivity
  • Private LTE, 4G, or 5G
  • IoT or industrial wireless
  • High-availability network design
  • Customer workshops and technical presales
  • Formal tender and bid processes
  • Vendor pricing and distributor relationships
  • Quote or CRM platforms
Why Agile Networks
  • Work on complex, real-world radio and network infrastructure
  • Significant technical ownership
  • Direct engagement with customers and major technology vendors
  • Exposure to utilities, telecommunications, industry, and critical infrastructure
  • Immediate involvement in quoting, RFPs, and major customer opportunities
  • Opportunity to develop into broader solution architecture
  • Small, engineering-led team
  • Minimal corporate bureaucracy
  • Ability to materially influence how solutions are designed and delivered
  • Exposure to emerging areas including private wireless, industrial connectivity, and resilient infrastructure
  • Performance-based upside linked to profitable customer outcomes and technical contribution

If you are strong in radio and network engineering, proficient in Pathloss, can produce accurate customer quotes, contribute meaningfully to RFPs from day one, and want to develop further into solution design and technical leadership, we'd like to hear from you.
