Job summary

New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) seeks a Principal Protective Security Risk Advisor to lead physical and personnel security risk assessments, shaping maturity of protective security capabilities across NZTA's infrastructure and services.

In this senior role you will influence secure-by-design outcomes, guide certifications and accreditation activities, and partner with project, engineering and business teams to implement practical risk treatments that protect people and assets.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading physical and personnel security risk assessments.
• Strong ability to articulate risk findings and practical treatments.
• Knowledge of threat assessment frameworks and risk methodologies.
• Excellent communication and cross-team collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead physical security risk assessments across NZTA infrastructure.
• Provide expert advice using PSR and industry best practice.
• Produce risk evaluation artefacts, including risk positions and security control recommendations.
• Define risk-proportionate security controls to support secure assets outcomes.
• Present physical and personnel security risks and recommendations to governance forums.
• Partner with project, alliances, business and technical teams to achieve effective security control outcomes.
• Strengthen physical security control and response capability across NZTA through leadership and influence.
