Job summary

Tiaki Wai in Wellington region is progressing a smart metering programme and seeks an experienced project leader for a 12‑month fixed‑term role to plan and deliver the water metering pilot from its Petone office, with hybrid working options.

The role reports to the Programme Director, Water Metering, and focuses on coordinating internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure the pilot is well planned, with risks and dependencies managed and outcomes informing the wider programme.

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing complex projects from planning through to delivery.
• Ability to navigate policy, access and engineering challenges.
• Strong knowledge of project methodologies to support delivery.
• Experience in contract management and supplier performance monitoring.
• Strong planning, risk, budget and reporting skills.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and managing dependencies.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement with councils, communities and iwi.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage the water metering pilot from start to delivery.
• Coordinate internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure readiness.
• Identify and manage risks, dependencies, and budgets for the pilot.
• Report on progress and ensure outcomes inform wider programme phases.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and support customer service goals.
