Job summary

Hynds is seeking a Senior Production Engineer to join our Precast and Reinforcing team in Pokeno, New Zealand. You’ll be the technical lead on site, running production day to day, solving complex issues and making our processes safer, faster and smarter.

You’ll own projects from concept to completion and work with Sales, Quality, Site Supervisors and Team Leaders to keep everything running at its best, while driving continuous improvement and coaching the production team.

Qualifications

• Civil or Construction Engineering degree required.
• 3–5+ years in precast or manufacturing production environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of precast and ability to discuss detailed engineering discussions.
• Solutions-focused approach with a track record in continuous improvement.
• Leadership skills: coaching, motivating and developing people.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily production and ensure drawings, materials, moulds and resources are ready.
• Be the go-to expert for complex production and technical problems.
• Drive quality from inspection plans to NCRs and reduce rejects, rework and waste.
• Coach and develop the production team and uphold safety and performance standards.
• Lead continuous improvement across production, QA/QC systems and reporting.
• Manage planning, costs and workcentre capacity to maximise output.

• Managing planning, costs and workcentre capacity to get the most out of people and machines

What you'll bring

• A Civil or Construction Engineering degree (or equivalent)
• 3–5+ years in a precast or manufacturing production environment
• Strong technical knowledge of precast and the confidence to hold your own in detailed engineering discussions
• A methodical, solutions-focused approach with a track record in continuous improvement
• Leadership skills: you coach, motivate and bring out the best in people
• Solid report writing and MS Office skills
