Job summary

Babbage Consultants Limited in Auckland is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join our Process Services team. You will provide high-quality process engineering services from concept and modelling through to construction and onsite delivery, developing detailed process schemes, plant layouts and specifications.

You will manage multidisciplinary design input, monitor design changes and costs, build strong client relationships, help identify opportunities and lead design reviews.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering.
• Significant process engineering experience on industrial, manufacturing or processing projects.
• Experience developing process schemes, plant layouts and specifications.
• Demonstrated experience facilitating workshops, design reviews, HAZOPs or similar.
• Process modelling capability and strong analytical skills.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design and coordinating other disciplines.
• Commercial awareness, including managing fees, programmes and variations.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality process engineering services to clients from concept and modelling through to construction and onsite delivery.

• On multidisciplinary projects, manage design input from other disciplines and plan the delivery of design documentation on time and on budget.
• Monitor design changes, assess cost impacts and negotiate variations.
• Manage resources to meet programme and fee budgets.
• Be a trusted adviser to clients, build and maintain key client relationships, help identify and develop new opportunities, and lead and facilitate design reviews and feasibility and design-stage workshops.
• Experience in dairy and food processing will be highly regarded.

We’re looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join our Process Services team in Auckland. You’ll be a senior technical voice on complex processing projects for industry-leading clients, at a time of strong growth and project activity.

The Role

Reporting to the Process Services Engineering Manager, you’ll provide high-quality process engineering services to our clients, from early concept and modelling through to construction and onsite delivery. You’ll develop detailed process schemes, plant layouts and specifications for pricing, tendering and construction. You’ll also carry out process modelling and report on the outcomes.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced process engineer who combines deep technical capability with a practical, client-focused approach.

You will bring:

• A degree qualification in Chemical or Process Engineering
• Significant process engineering experience on industrial, manufacturing or processing projects
• Experience developing process schemes, plant layouts and specifications
• Demonstrated experience facilitating workshops, design reviews, HAZOPs or similar
• Process modelling capability and strong analytical skills
• Experience managing multidisciplinary design and coordinating other disciplines
• Commercial awareness, including managing fees, programmes and variations
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
• Willingness to work on site for extended periods within New Zealand

Experience in dairy and food processing will be highly regarded.
