Job summary

CivilPlan is seeking an experienced Senior Planner to lead our Manukau planning team. You’ll take the helm on complex projects, provide trusted advice to clients and project teams, and help develop the capability of our junior planners.

Reporting to the Planning Team Leader, you’ll manage planning assessments, consent applications, and submissions, mentor less-experienced staff, and contribute to proposals and business development while building strong relationships with councils and

Qualifications

• Proven planning consultancy experience.
• Advanced knowledge of planning legislation, district and regional plan requirements, and consent processes.
• Ability to deliver complex planning work to completion.
• Clear, practical and solutions-focused advice.
• Strong project and priority management skills.
• Confidence engaging with clients, councils and stakeholders.
• Commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
• Ability to guide and support less-experienced planners.
• A collaborative working style with the wider business.

Responsibilities

• Leading complex planning assessments and submissions.
• Providing strategic and practical advice based on planning legislation.
• Managing planning work to agreed scope, programme, budget and quality.
• Reviewing technical reports to ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Mentoring junior planners.
• Leading or contributing to project meetings, site visits and hearings.
• Contributing to proposals, fee estimates and business development.
• Building trusted relationships with clients, councils and stakeholders.
• Supporting improvement of planning processes and standards.
