Job summary

Archway Recruitment is partnering with a respected structural engineering consultancy in New Zealand to recruit a Senior/Principal Structural Engineer for their Auckland team.

You will lead projects from concept design through to construction, interfacing with architects, developers, contractors, and asset owners while mentoring junior engineers and building strong client relationships.

Qualifications

• BE (Civil) or equivalent qualification.
• CPEng status or working towards chartership.
• Extensive experience delivering building structures projects in New Zealand.
• Strong technical design and project leadership capabilities.
• Experience across commercial, residential, industrial, education, or infrastructure projects.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• Proven ability to mentor and support junior engineers.
• Sound knowledge of New Zealand design standards and construction practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from concept design through to construction.

• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding needs and driving projects forward.

The Job on Offer

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior or Principal Structural Engineer to join the Auckland team. This position offers a balance of technical leadership, project ownership, and client engagement. You'll lead projects from concept design through to construction, working closely with architects, developers, contractors, and asset owners to deliver successful outcomes.

A key part of the role will be building and maintaining relationships with important clients. You'll act as a trusted advisor, regularly interfacing with stakeholders, understanding their needs, and helping drive projects forward while identifying future opportunities. This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys taking responsibility, leading projects, and influencing outcomes while remaining hands‑on with structural design and delivery.
