Job summary

DEFEND Limited in Auckland seeks a Senior Network Security Operations Engineer to lead and deliver secure, resilient network security services for customers. You will mentor junior engineers and take ownership of complex faults through resolution during 24/7 on-call rotations.

You will bring deep networking and security expertise, strong judgement, and a collaborative mindset to advance team capability and ensure high-quality security outcomes for diverse clients.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of networking and network security principles, applicable to complex customer environments.
• Experience in incident response, troubleshooting and fault resolution.
• Experience in network operations and support with leadership responsibilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and ability to document technical processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead, deliver, and support technical solutions to customers.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, acting as first point of escalation for issues and challenges.
• Perform incident, investigation, and analysis to assess severity and impact.
• Diagnose complex faults and lead the development and implementation of effective resolution.
• Proactively identify risks and opportunities for improvement, recommending changes to maintain security and resilience.
• Ensure compliance with change management practices when implementing changes.
• Provide technical leadership to ensure secure, reliable delivery of network security services.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, ensuring rapid response during incidents.
• Maintain and promote accurate technical documentation.
