Job summary

RealNZ in Te Anau is looking for a hands-on Maintenance Technician to keep our vessels operating safely and reliably. You will join an experienced team, performing servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance across a range of marine assets.

Ideal candidates have a trade qualification with 8+ years in marine, automotive, diesel or similar mechanical work, plus strong problem-solving skills and a full driver's licence. Training and growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Trade qualified with 8+ years' experience in marine, automotive, heavy diesel, or similar mechanical work.
• Experience with Maintenance Management Systems is preferred.
• Good problem-solving skills and pride in workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance on vessels.
• Diagnose faults and fix mechanical issues.
• Assist with vessel refits and improvement projects.

Looking for a hands-on maintenance role where no two days are the same? Join the RealNZ team in Te Anau and help keep one of New Zealand's largest tourism vessel fleets operating safely and reliably.

Whether you're from a marine, automotive, heavy diesel or mechanical background, if you're trade qualified and enjoy solving problems, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

You'll spend your time working alongside an experienced maintenance team to keep our vessels in top condition. Summer is focused on keeping the fleet running smoothly, while winter is when we tackle bigger maintenance and refit projects.

Some of the work includes:

• Carrying out servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance
• Diagnosing faults and fixing mechanical issues
• Assisting with vessel refits and improvement projects
• Completing maintenance records
• Working safely as part of a supportive team

No two days are exactly the same, and you'll get the opportunity to work across a unique range of vessels and equipment.

What we're looking for

You’ll ideally have:

• Experience with Maintenance Management Systems
• 8+ years' experience in marine, automotive, heavy diesel, or similar mechanical work is preferred, but we're equally interested in finding the right person. If you have relevant experience and a willingness to learn, we'd encourage you to apply
• Good problem-solving skills and pride in your workmanship
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• A full driver's licence
