Job summary

PwC New Zealand seeks a Manager or Senior Manager to lead its market-leading Indirect Tax offerings in Auckland. You will advise on GST/VAT, manage compliance, mentor juniors, and collaborate across PwC's Tax, Deals, Assurance and Consulting teams to deliver value.

Qualifications

• Significant indirect tax experience (GST/VAT) gained in NZ or internationally.
• Experience in a Big Four, advisory, or corporate tax environment.
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver across multiple engagements.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Experience leading projects and mentoring junior team members.
• Degree qualified with a professional qualification (or pursuing one) such as CAANZ/CPA/ACCA/ICAEW; legal background is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead GST advisory engagements and provide practical, commercial advice.
• Research and apply tax legislation to GST issues and draft high-quality advice.
• Manage GST compliance and review assignments including returns.
• Help clients identify and manage indirect tax risks through reviews and data analytics.
• Build strong client relationships by understanding objectives and delivering tailored solutions.
• Mentor junior team members and support career development.
• Collaborate with PwC specialists to provide integrated client solutions.
• Contribute to business development and market engagement activities to strengthen PwC's indirect tax presence.
